Mutundwe hill stands at 4,312 feet at peak. Mutundwe hill is one of the few untouched hills at their peaks which are next to Kampala –Uganda’s capital city. Mutundwe was originally designed by the British colonial government as a purely residential area back in 1940’s but today there are many developments that taken place on the footsteps of Mutundwe Hill like; factories, schools, churches, the Mutundwe Power plant etc. This hill is a perfect base for a wonderful photographic experience of Kampala city and beyond.
The top of Mutundwe hill offers a spectacular view of the entire Kampala city, Entebbe Area, Lake Victoria, parts of Wakiso district and beyond. In fact one can see aeroplanes take off and land at Entebbe Airport situated 40kms to the south.
In 1986, the late president of Uganda, Godfrey Lukongwa Binaisa built own mansion at the top of Mutundwe hill and this only house at the top can be viewed well from the southern side hill. Because of its suitability, several telecommunications and broadcasting companies in Uganda have built masts on the hilltop. The Uganda Army also setup a military camp at the summit of the hill.
The well-trimmed lawns at the peak make it a perfect venue for picnics.
