Nakasero hill is one of the seven hills making up Kampala city, the largest city in Uganda. These include; Rubaga, Namirembe, Makerere, Mengo, Kololo and Kampala. Nakasero hill forms an important part of Kampala city since it lies at the Heart of the central business district Kampala.
The western and southern slopes of the Nakasero hill accommodate the commercial activities, these include; New and old taxi parks, train station, shopping arcades, banks and the Nakasero fresh food market built in 1927. Major Banks occupying the hill include; Bank of Uganda headquarters, Barclays Bank Uganda headquarters, East Africa Development Bank, Standard Chartered Bank, Cairo Bank headquarters and many other.
Towards the top of the Nakasero hill sits government buildings and ministries like; Uganda Parliament Building, the Kampala City Council building (city hall), Ministry of Tourism, Trade & Industry (Farmers house), Ministry of Education & Sports building etc.
The top of Nakasero Hill is the most luxurious address in Kampala city and accommodates the most expensive hotels and restaurants in the Uganda. These include; Kampala Serena Hotel, Sheraton Kampala Hotel, Imperial Royale Hotel, Speke Hotel, Kampala Hilton Hotel & Grand Imperial Hotel. The Kampala State House or State Lodge is also located here.
The northern and eastern slopes of Nakasero Hill house the majority of Diplomatic Missions to Uganda and the residencies of most ambassadors accredited to Uganda. These include; embassy of France, embassy of Denmark, Embassy of Sweden, embassy of Norway etc.
The hill also houses the National Theatre, All saints’ Cathedral & Christ the King church Kampala, Kampala Casino – the best Casino in Kampala.
